ABU DHABI // A luxurious VIP terminal is to open at Abu Dhabi International Airport at the end of the year.
The terminal will have its own immigration, police and baggage handling facilities so that passengers can enjoy the utmost privacy, convenience and luxury, according to Abu Dhabi Airports Company.
Limousine services will ferry passengers to and from the aircraft.
"The VIP Terminal will enhance the level of service at the existing Abu Dhabi International Airport and will also provide style and sophistication for travellers, on par with the best airports in the world," said Hassan El Houry, chief executive officer of National Aviation Services.
"With its seamless immigration and baggage handling services, and private limousine services directly to and from the aircraft, the VIP Terminal is set to take travel in style to the next level. It is a moment of pride for everyone involved in the dynamic growth of Abu Dhabi."
Passengers can use the terminal by paying a pre-set fee.
They will be greeted and escorted by a special services agent from National Aviation Services (NAS), which also runs the airport's Golden Class services in terminals one and two. NAS will also drive passengers to and from aircraft in a limousine.
There will also be a private majlis service, offering complimentary food, drink and entertainment.
Abu Dhabi International Airport's chief commercial officer, Mohammed Al Bulooki, said the airport recorded a rise of 18.9 per cent in passenger traffic in 2012, and he expected this trend to continue.
"In addition to providing passengers with unique personalised services, the new VIP terminal will add to the handling capacity of Abu Dhabi International Airport, accommodating the foreseen growth. The new 924-square-metre facility is set to offer unparalleled levels of comfort and services, in line with Abu Dhabi Airports Company's commitment to delivering tailor-made services at the highest standards, to all passenger segments, ultimately enhancing their airport experience."
