A woman who bit a Dubai Police officer who suspected her of being a prostitute wept in court as she "begged for mercy" on Monday.
At 11pm on July 22, the Nigerian woman, 32, and a second female were approached by the officer who saw them standing on a street corner in the Naif area of the emirate.
The pair fled and when the officer caught up with them, they resisted arrest, with the defendant jumping on his back and biting him.
The officer had to call for a colleague to assist in arresting them.
He suffered skin damage as result of the attack and required hospital treatment.
At Dubai Criminal Court, the woman admitted resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
“I am guilty but I beg for your mercy,” said the woman to judges, while crying in the courtroom.
A verdict is expected on September 23.
