Women stole Dh100,000 from man seeking massage in Dubai, court told

Two women lured an Emirati man to their room, threatened him with a knife and locked him up before stealing Dh100,000 from him, Dubai Criminal Court was told.

Prosecutors said that in April last year, the Emirati man saw an advertisement for a massage centre online and made a booking.

“I was contacted by a woman who gave me directions to the location in Al Barsha area, which she said was the massaging centre,” the man said.

"When I got into the place, two women jumped on top of me while one was holding a knife."
He said the two Nigerian women — aged 32 and 33 — threatened to kill him so he gave them the Dh100,000 he had.

“They took the money and left. I headed at once to the nearest police station and reported the incident,” he said.

Police arrested the women a few days later in a hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Prosecutors said that the 33-year-old woman gave police a forged passport with a fake name. During police questioning, the woman gave another name and, finally, during prosecution questioning she gave them a third name.

Both women were charged with confinement, issuing death threats, and theft. The elder of the two is charged with using a forged passport during the investigations and with providing police with three different names. Both denied all charges in court on Tuesday.
The next hearing is scheduled for June 12.
