Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed says UAE women have 'elevated" the nation's standing - as the country continues its celebrations on Emirati Women's Day. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces led tributes to the flourishing role of women in the development of the country. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said: "Women in the UAE have surpassed the stage of being contributors to the nation's development to achievers who elevate the rank of the nation. "On Emirati Woman's Day, we renew our trust in their potential and role in bolstering the nation's prominence, with further growth. As we celebrate Woman's Day, the nation, too, is rejoicing at her being an essential partner of the man in their journey of the nation's founding and progress." Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, joined the chorus of praise, saying that "each woman is worth a thousand men" and vowed that half of parliament will soon be comprised of women. He said: "Each woman is worth a thousand men. The woman represents half of the society. If you are working, can you walk on one leg? Can you breathe with one lung? Can you work with one hand? What we need is the man and also the woman. Today if she makes up one-third of the parliament, I promise you, women will account for half of the ministers in the next few years." Ministers and officials also took to social media to praise their female colleagues, students and employees. Dr. Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skill, Chairman of the UAE Space Agency tweeted: "Today the UAE celebrates #EmiratiWomensDay in recognition of the tremendous contributions made by our nation's women. They have excelled across key industries with the support of our leadership and under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak." The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), in celebration of the 4th annual Emirati Women’s Day, pledged to empower women, drive gender diversity and promote inclusivity in the oil and gas sector as part of its 2030 growth strategy. Group CEO and Minister of State, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, said: "Adnoc Group is proud to recognize Emirati Women’s Day and celebrate our female colleagues and the roles they play in UAE society and at Adnoc. Emirati women work across all aspects of Adnoc’s operations, from corporate offices to remote fields. Their achievements serve as testament to the unwavering efforts of our nation’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose vision was to support and empower women. "Women have long-played a critical role in the growth and prosperity of the UAE, and they will continue to for decades to come." _______________ More on Emirati Women's Day _______________
