Police have released security camera footage of suspects who stole a gun used by actor Roger Moore in his final James Bond movie. The Walther PPK was one of five deactivated weapons used on sets of the 007 films stolen from a collector’s home in Enfield, north London, a year ago. The PPK featured in the 1985 movie View to a Kill in a famous scene on the Eiffel Tower in Paris, as 007 leapt on to the roof of a lift to pursue Grace Jones, who was playing Bond villain May Day. The other stolen weapons featured in the 1973 movie Live and Let Die – the first Bond film to feature Roger Moore as the fictional MI6 agent – and the 2002 film Die Another Day, starring Pierce Brosnan. The burglars, believed to be three Eastern Europeans, were disturbed by neighbours after breaking into the back of the home on March 23, 2020, but still managed to escape out of a window as the police arrived. They fled with a two Beretta pistols, the PPK, a Llama, and a Smith and Wesson 44 Magnum, the only one ever made finished in chrome. They were all deactivated. The yellow-handled Llama pistol was found the following month in a field close to a railway station in Roydon, Essex, 35 kilometres north of London, but the others have not turned up. The Llama was badly rusted due to being exposed to the elements outdoors. Police released CCTV which showed a silver-coloured Vauxhall parked on the street just minutes before the burglary. "We have released images of a vehicle that was parked near to the scene of the crime and appears to be carrying out reconnaissance in the area,” said Detective Inspector Paul Ridley. “In scenes reminiscent of a James Bond movie you can even see the flash of a camera from the occupant engaged in the surveillance. I believe these individuals were involved in the crime, it was only a matter of minutes prior to the raid. "The owner of these unique items is still completely devastated, particularly in terms of the sentimental value; they were due to be showcased on display as part of a national exhibition. He is determined to see the return of the items.”
