UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs said that statements on an Abu Dhabi Louvre map omitting the Qatari peninsula from the lower Gulf are an “exaggeration”. “I followed up on the tweet by chairperson of Qatar Museums, which exaggerated a small oversight in the gift shop of the Abu Dhabi Louvre,” said Dr Anwar Gargash on Saturday. “The observations of some are trying to [create issues] by fishing in muddy water, culture remains more significant than those small issues.” Dr Gargash's statements came after Sheikha Al Mayassa bin Hamad, chairperson of Qatar Museums, re-tweeted a picture of the map, which was posted by a British researcher. The UAE — along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt — has been boycotting Doha since June 5 last year over its support of extremism and interference in the affairs of other countries.
