Kuwait’s Prime Minister said late on Saturday that the health of Sheikh Sabah is “stable and improving”. It was the third such assurance in the last five weeks given by Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah about the 91-year-old Emir, who is receiving treatment in the United States. “The latest report from the Kuwaiti medical team accompanying his majesty is that, thanks to God, the health of his highness is stable and improving,” Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid told official TV. “We call upon the mighty God to bestow upon him speedy recovery and return to his folks and nation as soon as possible,” he said. On August 17, Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid “assured the Cabinet of the continuous improvement the health of his majesty the Emir is witnessing,” the official news agency Kuna said. During a Cabinet session on August 3, Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid said he received a call from the deputy head of the national guard reassuring him of the emir's health. The monarch had surgery in Kuwait for an unspecified condition on July 19. He left for the US a few days later aboard an US Air Force C-17 flying hospital.
