The UK's Prince of Wales will visit the Occupied Palestinian Territories for the first time ever in late January. On a trip which will take in an appearance at the World Economic Forum's Davos conference before moving on to Charles' first official trip to Israel, he will meet Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas. The Prince will also visit the Occupied Palestinian Territories where he will undertake engagements on behalf of the British Government. The royal's trip to Israel will focus on holocaust rememberance. He will attend the World Holocaust Forum at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Centre in Jerusalem with Reuven Rivlin on 23 January and undertake a number of other engagements on behalf of the British Government. The World Holocaust Forum will commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Charles will also meet British Holocaust survivors who will be travelling to Israel for the event. The Prince's office said he will use a private jet to make the journey due to time and staff constraints. The heir-to-the-throne has visited Jerusalem twice before in a private capacity for the funerals of Israeli President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. In 2018, Charles's son Prince William became the first British royal to visit Israel and the Palestinian Territories in an official capacity in 2018.
