Iran's deputy health minister has tested positive for the coronavirus - a day after he was seen on state television coughing and sweating as Tehran officals claimed the outbreak in the country was under control. Iraj Haririchi confirmed on Tuesday that is in isolation. "I too have been infected with coronavirus," Mr Harirchi said in the video. "I had a fever as of last night and my preliminary test was positive around midnight." "I've isolated myself in a place since. A few minutes ago, I was told that my test was final, and now I am starting medication." Iran has the highest number of coronavirus deaths outside China, where the virus emerged in December and more than 2,600 have died. On Tuesday an Iranian MP said he was one of 35 new coronavirus cases in the country. "My corona test is positive ... I don't have a lot of hope of continuing life in this world," Mahmoud Sadeghi, from Tehran, wrote on Twitter. Health Ministry spokesman Kianush Jahanpur said 95 people had been infected across Iran. He said 15 people have died, though the state news agency later said one person infected by the virus had died in the city of Saveh.
