Suspect arrested after London jogger pushes woman in front of a bus

Police in London have arrested a man in relation to an assault in which a woman appeared to be pushed by a jogger into the path of an oncoming bus.

On Thursday, the Metropolitan Police announced that they had detained a 41-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The suspect was detained following police enquiries at an address in Chelsea and was taken to a south London police station, where he remains in custody.

CCTV footage of the incident, which occurred on London’s Putney Bridge on May 5, was released to the public by police this week in an attempt to gain further information about the identity of the jogger.

The video shows a male jogger in a grey t-shirt push into a 33-year-old woman, who fell into the road in front of a bus, which swerved and narrowly avoided running her over.

Passengers on the bus, which stopped, rushed to the victim’s aid. She received only minor injuries in the incident.

Police said 15 minutes afterwards the jogger ran back the other way across the bridge but he failed to acknowledge the victim when she tried to talk to him.
