Trump campaign attacks Lady Gaga for plans to appear with Joe Biden

The Trump campaign is attacking pop star Lady Gaga for her plans to appear with his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, on Monday in Pennsylvania. Hours after the Biden campaign announced the celebrity would be joining the former vice president in his last rally on Monday night in Pittsburgh, the Trump campaign issued a statement calling Lady Gaga an “anti-fracking activist.” Fracking is the process of drilling down at high pressure into rocks to extract oil and gas, and is common in rural areas of Pennsylvania. The Trump campaign has claimed that Mr Biden opposes the practice, an accusation he has denied “Nothing exposes Joe Biden’s disdain for the forgotten working men and women of Pennsylvania like campaigning with anti-fracking activist Lady Gaga,” the campaign said. Before Monday's rally, she tweeted to her 82.3 million followers a photo of her on a tractor when she was growing up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and another with Mr Biden. Her attempt to propel the Democratic nominee to the edge of glory is not surprising. Last May she called Mr Trump “a fool and a racist", after the killing of unarmed African-American man George Floyd by police. But in 2012, Mr Trump praised Ms Gaga on Twitter: Pennsylvania holds 20 electoral votes and could decide the next president on Tuesday night. Polls show Mr Biden ahead of Mr Trump by an average of 4.3 per cent. In the other corner of the state, singer John Legend will join Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris on Monday night.
