10 best looks from Berluti’s summer line

We dig the strong use of colour in Berluti’s latest collection, which apparently takes its cue from Impressionist paintings of men eating, drinking and relaxing amid lush greenery in the summer sun.

It’s reflected in the Parisian brand’s lookbook, inspired by uniforms worn by French workers — from gardeners to miners to postmen. The outfits are utilitarian — with surprising functional details like pockets and bindings.

The proportions are curt: the jackets, for instance, are made with either a Neapolitan shoulder or a raglan detail to the rear.

The fabrics are lightweight — linen and cotton, apt for the warm weather out — but treated to simulate the textures of coarser, heavier textiles.

And the shoes are a standout, of course: two-tone with either buckles or laces, in baby calf or in lizard.
