In the next few months, Fortnite will screen a full-length Christopher Nolan film, free of charge on Party Royale. A new trailer for The Dark Knight director's latest movie Tenet was debuted on Fortnite on Thursday. And after this event, the game revealed plans to show another "iconic" Nolan movie on the big screen later this summer. The movie will play on Fortnite's Party Royale mode – an experimental hangout space that was launched in April. The zone is non-violent, with none of Fortnite's trademark weapons or crafting, and without the typical 100-player limit. The announcement of the film screening, plus the trailer debut, suggests Nolan and Epic Games (the company behind Fortnite) are developing quite the partnership. While the Academy quibbles over whether Netflix films are worthy of awards, Nolan has clearly cottoned on to the fact that games such as Fortnite, which has more than 78 million active users, will likely soon outshine traditional cinema when it comes to influence. Game Awards host Geoff Keighley revealed the news after the first screening of the new trailer for Nolan's Tenet. He did not say which movie will screen on Fortnite or when in the summer it will be shown. But, basically, watch this space. Nolan is the man behind some of the most influential and popular movies of his time including The Dark Knight, Inception and Dunkirk. Tenet is billed as his biggest movie to date, with an original release date of July 17. If it manages to keep to that date and cinemas open, the Warner Bros. film will likely be the first major Hollywood release to hit big screens. The screening of the latest trailer revealed little about the movie plot, which has been kept tightly under wraps. All we know so far is that Tenet is set to be a high action, espionage thriller with time-travel elements. It's definitely more of an Inception than a Dunkirk. The cast includes John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia and Michael Caine.
