<em>John Wick </em>fans are in for a treat as it's been announced that the popular franchise will not only see a fourth instalment but a fifth one as well. Lionsgate has said in an annoucement that it's aiming to shoot both <em>John Wick 4 </em>and <em>5</em> back-to-back next year with a release date for <em>John Wick 4</em> set for May 27, 2022 after the coronavirus pandemic delayed filming this year. "We're also busy preparing scripts for the next two instalments of our <em>John Wick</em> action franchise, with <em>John Wick 4</em> slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022. We hope to shoot both <em>John Wick 4 </em>and<em> 5</em> back to back when Keanu [Reeves] becomes available early next year," said Lionsgate chief executive Jon Feltheimer in a statement. The first <em>John Wick</em> film released in 2014 and stars Reeves as the titular character. In the film, Reeves plays a retired hitman who returns to being an assassin while seeking vengeance against a group of Russian gangsters who steal his car and kill his puppy gifted to him by his late wife. After the success of the film first, two sequels <em>John Wick: Chapter 2 </em>(2017) and <em>John Wick: Chapter 3</em> (2019) were released, both earning critical acclaim. The franchise has made over $579 million (Dh2.12b) internationally since debuting in 2014. The most recent film sees Wick trying to survive as a $14 million (Dh51.4m) bounty for his life has been placed on him by the same international assassin organisation he once belonged to. <strong>Watch the trailer for John Wick: Chapter 3 below</strong> Reeves has had a career resurgence through his role as Wick.
