Atlantis, The Palm may have been cruelly snubbed by the producers of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, but it seems the vast aquatic-themed hotel will feature in a new action film from China.
Details are scarce, but from what we can gather Dwelling in the Fuchan Mountains is named after a famous Chinese landscape painting by Huang Gongwang which was created in the 14th century but torn in two about three hundred years later. The film, which has been described as a "Chinese James Bond", takes the story up as the two pieces are reunited (which actually happened last year) and international gangs - ranging from British robbers to Triads - attempt to get their hands on it.
Sources tell us the plot is similar to Mr & Mrs Smith, with the Chinese actor Andy Lau (that's the chap above) and the Taiwanese model Lin Chi-ling as a husband and wife duo trying to hide their actual professions from one another.
Apparently, key action scenes from this "big-budget action thriller" will be shot at Atlantis, along with other Dubai destinations (which we've been told will include the Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and an Emirates A380).
All is being revealed later this week, but if it turns out to be true, you heard it here first...
