Fans of the classic point-and-click games such as Monkey Island haven't been particularly well catered to in recent decades, with 2D adventures considered rather slow for most action-hungry teens.
But one of the biggest names in the business, Tim Schafer (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle) has vowed to give them a dramatic reboot, and his San Francisco-based Double Fine Productions is currently working on a new old-school point-and-clicker due out later this year.
It seems he's not without fans: a Kickstarter campaign to raise US$400,000 (Dh1.5m) for the project was reached in eight hours, and now sits at over $3 million. Go on, you can still put forward $15 and reserve yourself a copy at www.doublefine.com.
Tank warfare
Lt Gen Erik Petersen, deputy chief of programs, US Army, has argued it took a “three decade holiday” on modernising tanks.
“There clearly remains a significant armoured heavy ground manoeuvre threat in this world and maintaining a world class armoured force is absolutely vital,” the general said in London last week.
“We are developing next generation capabilities to compete with and deter adversaries to prevent opportunism or miscalculation, and, if necessary, defeat any foe decisively.”
