Alphabet-owned Google rolled out a Covid-19 microsite in Arabic to reach more people in the Middle East and North Africa region with information about the pandemic.
This site is designed to help people quickly access reliable information related to symptoms and prevention measures from authoritative sources such as the World Health Organisation.
“This [microsite] follows other products and initiatives designed to help people access useful and reliable information … such as the SOS alerts on Search, Do the Five campaign with the WHO to raise awareness about prevention measures and the ongoing Doodles that thank medical staff, grocery workers and emergency responders,” Google said in a statement.
The new Arabic microsite is divided into four parts – health information, safety and protection tips, resources from Google and additional content.
Google also launched a Teach From Home site in Arabic containing tips, training and tools to help educators teach remotely.
For students, Google-owned YouTube rolled out an all-Arabic educational hub called YouTube Dorosi, a library of hundreds of classes based on official government syllabuses in the MENA region.
Last week, Google announced $340 million (Dh1.24 billion) in Google Ads credits available to all small and medium businesses globally, including those in MENA, with active accounts over the past year.
“Credit notifications will appear in their Google Ads accounts and can be used at any point until the end of 2020 across its advertising platforms,” the company said.
“Google also pledged a sum of $250m in Google Ad Grants to help more than 100 government agencies around the world run public service announcements and health and safety awareness campaigns. The ad grants are being rolled out in MENA,” it added.
