• Asia Seven, a new Pan Asian restaurant, has just opened in the Bawabat Al Sharq Mall. The restaurant specialises in traditional food from seven Asian countries: China, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Korea and Myanmar. Expect sushi, dim sum, tempura, Asian curries and Thai noodles. • The Philippine Hut — a new Filipino restaurant in the capital — quietly opened its doors last month with the Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Grace Princesa in charge of the ribbon-cutting. The two-level eatery offers traditional Filipino cuisine as well as fusion dishes. Open daily from 9am to 11:30pm, the restaurant is located on the corner of Al Falah and Airport Road. • FANR restaurant on Saadiyat Island has designed a new healthy menu for diners throughout January — just in time to kick-start those “healthy new you” New Year’s resolutions. The feel good eats include the new orange and avocado salad (226 calories), fattoush salad with grilled halloumi, bell peppers and pomegranate (257 calories), poached chicken and sweetcorn salad (278 calories) and steamed fresh water sangara with steamed broccoli and vegetable batons (324 calories). They’ll even offer a tomato-peach spritzer with fresh ginger that has just 74 calories. FANR, located in Manarat Al Saadiyat in the Saadiyat Cultural District, is open every day from 10am to 11pm.
