From Zuma to Paul: some of Dubai’s best restaurants will come together for one-day event to help Beirut

In the aftermath of the devastating port explosion in Beirut earlier this month, communities across the UAE have banded together to offer any assistance they can. From donating all of a day's sales to organising intimate charity dinners , a number of individual restaurants have also launched initiatives to help the country. But now, for the first time, the UAE’s hospitality industry is set to come together to support Lebanon through a one-day event. On Sunday, August 30, some of Dubai's best restaurants, delivery platforms and fast-food outlets will be offering a percentage of each bill to charities in Beirut. That means that Dubai residents get the chance to eat some of the city's best food while also contributing to a good cause. The percentage donated from the restaurants can be anything from 30 per cent up to 100 per cent. Guests will also be given the option to add their own donation. The initiative will take place from 8am to 3am on the day, and aims to raise Dh10 million in funds. The “day of charity” has been organised under the patronage of The Emirates Red Crescent, in association with the Lebanese Business Council in Dubai to “celebrate the influence of Lebanese culture that is woven throughout our daily lives”. And, of course, is also an excuse to share a good meal with a loved one while helping Beirut in its rebuilding efforts. The participating restaurants range from high-end to affordable options, and cover a wealth of cuisines, so diners can have their pick, no matter their budgets or taste.
