I'm starting to get very excited about Design Days Dubai , which is taking place on March 18 to 21 . The event will coincide with the annual contemporary art fair, Art Dubai, and will focus on collectible and limited-edition design objects. Even a cursory glance at the exhibition line-up was enough to get my heart racing. There are some truly exceptional pieces of design coming to Dubai next month and I cannot wait to see them in the flesh, so to speak. Among these are pieces by Korean designer Lee Jae-Hyo, whose treatment of wood is utterly awe-inspiring. I'm also looking forward to Carwan Gallery's exhibition, entitled 'Design and New Perspectives in Middle Eastern Crafts'. The gallery has invited eight international designers to design objects that reflect a Middle Eastern craft - with a contemporary twist. One of these eight is Emirati furniture and objects designer Khalid Shafar, whose simple but beautifully-crafted creations are on our wish-list right now. Dubai has been crying out for an event like this and even for those of us that can't (yet!) afford to invest in a beautiful, one-off piece of collectable design, it's a great opportunity to experience first-hand how great design can truly delight. For more on the event, make sure to read the March 10 edition of House & Home . In celebration of Design Days Dubai, we're preparing a special issue dedicated entirely to the event. We'll look at some of the most exciting products on show (how to choose?!) and speak to some of the key people involved, including Shafar. Art Dubai has been instrumental in developing Dubai's arts scene and community... and we're hopeful that Design Days Dubai can do the same for design. See you there! Selina
