ERBIL // The Ford Motor Company may be struggling in the US market but it is undergoing an expansion programme in Iraq. The latest Iraqi Ford dealership has opened in the northern city of Erbil, Iraq's third-largest city after Baghdad and Mosul. The dealership has been opened by Niva, an importer-dealer for the Ford brand in Iraq. The three-level Erbil facility will offer sales and service for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands. Niva has another Ford sales and service facility in Sulaimaniyah, a trade centre in north-eastern Iraq. Ford claims that sales across the Middle East were up by 40 per cent in 2008, bucking the trend in other markets.
