Princess Beatrice wears vintage wedding dress loaned to her by the Queen to marry Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi - in pictures

Princess Beatrice, 31, wore a vintage dress loaned to her by her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, at her wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 36, on Friday. Buckingham Palace has released official images from the small ceremony, which was attended by about 20 close family and friends. Princess Beatrice married the UK property developer at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor. She wore the vintage ivory taffeta dress by Norman Hartnell that was worn by the Queen for the opening of parliament in 1967, and during a state banquet in 1961 in Rome. The groom wore a morning suit. Princess Beatrice also wore the same diamond tiara the Queen wore on her own wedding day in 1947. The monarch and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, were among those in attendance, and were pictured standing outside the chapel with the newlyweds after the ceremony. Guidelines in place to stop the spread of Covid-19 were followed, the palace said. Britain now allows only up to 30 guests at a wedding in an attempt to stop the spread of the coronavirus. On Sunday afternoon, the royals shared two additional photos of the happy couple. "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York and Mr Mapelli Mozzi have been touched by the warm wishes they have received since their wedding, and are delighted to share two additional photographs of their happy day," the Royal Family's Twitter account read. The photos show the newlyweds hand-in-hand in a garden setting, and walking down a path, presumably to greet guests. Princess Beatrice, the daughter of Prince Andrew and his former wife Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, had originally planned to marry Mozzi on May 29 in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace, but the ceremony was postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak. A small wedding reception and sit-down meal was believed to have been held at the Royal Lodge, which is Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York's home, shortly afterwards. The families of the newlyweds have known one another for many years. The pair are said to have started a relationship after meeting again at the wedding of Princess Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie. Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York, who remain on good terms despite their divorce in 1996, said at the time of Beatrice’s engagement that they were “thrilled” with the news. Their younger daughter, Princess Eugenie, married Jack Brooksbank in 2018.
