The Dubai Sports Council has announced the launch of a new women’s running event that will be spread across four locations in Dubai over a four-week period.

The Dubai Women’s Running Challenge is organised in collaboration with Dubai Municipality under the slogan, “It is good to compete in the world’s coolest winter", and will offer three distances: 10 kilometres, 5km and 2.5km.

The first stage of the run will take place on Saturday, January 16, at Dubai Safari Park, where runners will get to race past the park’s lions, giraffes and other exotic animals. The second stage will take place on Saturday, January 23, at the Palm Jumeirah with views of the water, while stage three will be a night race starting at 9pm at Dubai Garden Glow on Thursday, January 28. Finally, the last stage will be at Al Seef on Saturday, February 6, where participants can soak in the atmosphere of the historic district.

Those interested in taking part in the 10km run will be divided into five age groups: 12-17, 18-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-99, while those participating in the 5km race will be divided into two groups: 12-17 and 18-99.

For those who would prefer a short run, there’s also the 2.5km race, split into four age groups: 5-9, 10-14, 15-17 and 18-99.

In addition, the Dubai Women’s Running Challenge will have specially designed medals for the occasion. The Dubai Sports Council has created a unique set of medals for the run with each stage having its own distinct design.

For runners who complete all four races and collect all four medals, they will discover that putting them together spells “Dubai”.
