Struggling Emirates raised their game in the nick of time last night to beat Al Nasr at home and stave off relegation.
The Ras Al Khaimah side had to beat mid-table Nasr to stay in the Arabian Gulf League next season, and a strike in the 65th minute from Argentine forward Sebastian Sacha did exactly that.
After enduring a frustrating first half, Emirates broke the deadlock when Sacha scored after being first to the rebound after Nasr goalkeeper Ahmed Shambih had parried a shot.
But they had their own keeper Ahmed Alshaji to thank for the numerous saves he made throughout the game, especially early in the second half.
“Tonight I felt like we were winning the league for Ras Al Khaimah,” Emirates manager Ivan Hasek said.
“My players deserved all praise as they fought hard for this result. Emirates Club has limited resources, but they deserve to remain in the AGL because of their commitment and work to be in the top flight.”

Forward Mourad Batna was playing his last game for Emirates before he moves to Al Wahda ahead of the 2017/18 season.
“This win meant everything for us and I’m also glad that I could play a part for my team,” the Moroccan said.
“It was a pressure game for us because we had to win to avoid relegation. It was not only winning this game but we had to depend on two other results, and it all panned out in favour of us on the final day of the league.”
Indeed Emirates, who finished on 20 points for the season, also benefited from Kalba's 2-1 loss to Al Ain.
For Kalba, a draw would have been enough to stay up – having a superior goal difference over Dibba.
As it turns out, Kalba (19) lost and were relegated along with basement side Baniyas (15), who were beaten 2-1 by Al Ahli, while Dibba stayed up after drawing 2-2 at home against Sharjah to finish on 20 points.
Ahli's win was not good enough to finish second in the league, behind Al Jazira, as Al Wasl beat Hatta 1-0.
The Dubai side, though, managed to finish one point ahead of fourth-placed Al Ain. Al Wahda, Jazira's Abu Dhabi rivals, placed fifth after a 1-1 draw against Al Shabab.

Ads on social media can 'normalise' drugs
A UK report on youth social media habits commissioned by advocacy group Volteface found a quarter of young people were exposed to illegal drug dealers on social media.
The poll of 2,006 people aged 16-24 assessed their exposure to drug dealers online in a nationally representative survey.
Of those admitting to seeing drugs for sale online, 56 per cent saw them advertised on Snapchat, 55 per cent on Instagram and 47 per cent on Facebook.
Cannabis was the drug most pushed by online dealers, with 63 per cent of survey respondents claiming to have seen adverts on social media for the drug, followed by cocaine (26 per cent) and MDMA/ecstasy, with 24 per cent of people.

What are NFTs?
Are non-fungible tokens a currency, asset, or a licensing instrument? Arnab Das, global market strategist EMEA at Invesco, says they are mix of all of three.
You can buy, hold and use NFTs just like US dollars and Bitcoins. “They can appreciate in value and even produce cash flows.”
However, while money is fungible, NFTs are not. “One Bitcoin, dollar, euro or dirham is largely indistinguishable from the next. Nothing ties a dollar bill to a particular owner, for example. Nor does it tie you to to any goods, services or assets you bought with that currency. In contrast, NFTs confer specific ownership,” Mr Das says.
This makes NFTs closer to a piece of intellectual property such as a work of art or licence, as you can claim royalties or profit by exchanging it at a higher value later, Mr Das says. “They could provide a sustainable income stream.”
This income will depend on future demand and use, which makes NFTs difficult to value. “However, there is a credible use case for many forms of intellectual property, notably art, songs, videos,” Mr Das says.

The tour is doing really well and is extensive and intensive at the same time travelling all over the globe. My Middle Eastern fans are very dear to me, it’s good to be back.
You mix tracks that people know and love, but you also have a visually impressive set too (graphics etc). Is that the secret recipe to Dash Berlin's live gigs?
People enjoying the combination of the music and visuals are the key factor in the success of the Legends Of The Feel tour 2018.
