PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM OF THE WEEK: GK: Jordan Pickford (Everton). The England goalkeeper is having a fine season for his club and was again key in the 2-1 victory at Southampton with a couple of crucial saves. PA
RB: Ben White (Arsenal). A centre-back by trade but has adjusted well to the right-back position. White laid on the pass for Thomas Partey’s opening goal in the 3-1 derby win over Tottenham. Aided by Spurs being reduced to 10 men, but kept Son Heung-min quiet. Getty
CB: Nathan Ake (Manchester City). Could have been either of the City centre-backs named in this XI as Manuel Akanji was equally impressive. Ake just shades it because the Dutchman was superb at the back and paraded forward to launch numerous attacks. Getty
CB: Conor Coady (Everton). The Toffees seriously lacked leaders last season and former Wolves captain Coady has immediately taken on the responsibility. An imposing and commanding figure at the back and chipped in with another important goal. PA
LB: Joao Cancelo (Manchester City). Until giving away a consolation penalty, Cancelo was excellent in the Manchester derby. Started the move for the opening goal and was comfortable on the left-flank. Switched to the right after Kyle Walker’s injury and continued his impressive performance. Getty
CM: Miguel Almiron (Newcastle United). The standout player in a fine team performance as Newcastle crushed 10-man Fulham at Craven Cottage. Almiron capped an excellent display with a goal-of-the-season contender. Reuters
CM: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City). A perennial fixture in every team of the week, such is the Belgian’s class and irrepressible form. De Bruyne was sublime once again to help City destroy Manchester United, providing two assists and generally pulling the strings. Reuters
CM: James Maddison (Leicester City). Leicester’s brightest player in a bleak start to the season, Maddison earned the result his form deserved by leading the way in the 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest with two goals, including a stunning free kick, and an assist. An England recall is surely on the horizon. Getty
LF: Phil Foden (Manchester City). A local City player scoring a hat-trick in the Manchester derby? It’s what dreams are made of, and Foden realised his with a treble and an all-round devastating display at the Etihad. Getty
RF: Leandro Trossard (Brighton). The post-Graham Potter era at Brighton got off to an encouraging start with a 3-3 draw at Liverpool, with Trossard helping himself to all three goals. The first two, scored inside the opening 17 minutes, were particularly impressive. PA
