The <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/tags/premier-league/" target="_blank">Premier League</a> returned from the international break this past weekend and it was a round packed with goals and drama. The action got underway at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, where Liverpool won the Merseyside derby, <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2023/10/21/liverpool-claim-victory-over-10-man-everton-in-controversial-merseyside-derby/" target="_blank">defeating 10-man Everton 2-0</a> thanks to a Mohamed Salah double. That was followed by five matches at the traditional Saturday kick-off time. Wolves fought back to defeat winless Bournemouth 2-1 at Vitality Stadium as manager Gary O'Neill got one over his former team, while Brentford secured their first home win of the season with a 3-0 victory over struggling Burnley. Champions Manchester City bounced back from successive defeats with a <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2023/10/21/premier-league-erling-haaland-helps-manchester-city-get-back-to-winning-ways/" target="_blank">2-1 win over Brighton</a> at the Etihad Stadium, Newcastle <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2023/10/21/newcastle-united-outclass-crystal-palace-to-maintain-premier-league-momentum/" target="_blank">crushed Crystal Palace 4-0</a> at St James' Park, and Luton Town fought back to claim a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest having fallen two goals down following a Chris Wood brace. In the Saturday evening game, Chelsea looked on course for their most impressive win of the season but their 2-0 lead over unbeaten Arsenal was chased down and the match at <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2023/10/21/arsenal-fight-back-to-snatch-draw-against-chelsea-in-premier-league/" target="_blank">Stamford Bridge ended 2-2</a>. On Saturday night, Manchester United edged past bottom side Sheffield United <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2023/10/21/diogo-dalot-fires-manchester-united-to-victory-over-sheffield-united-on-emotional-night/" target="_blank">2-1 at Bramall Lane</a>. There was only one fixture on Sunday but it was one to savor for Aston Villa as Unai Emery's side <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2023/10/22/aston-villa-hammer-west-ham-to-maintain-100-per-cent-home-record-in-premier-league/" target="_blank">trounced West Ham 4-1</a>. The round then concluded on Monday night when Tottenham returned to the top of the table with a <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2023/10/24/postecoglou-hails-leaders-son-and-maddison-as-tottenham-move-top-with-win-over-fulham/" target="_blank">2-0 win over London rivals Fulham</a>.
