Wolves v Manchester City (11.15pm): Finishing 18 points behind champions Liverpool last season would have hurt City manager Pep Guardiola. Defensive frailties were to blame for that gap and the £41m arrival of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth should help rectify the problem. And Wolves will provide an early test for the new boy. SATURDAY - Everton v West Bromwich Albion (3.30pm kick off UAE): While former Real Madrid man James Rodriguez was Everton's glamour summer signing, it was fellow South American Allan who made a big impression on teammates during their win at Spurs. Centre-back Michael Keane hailed the Brazilian midfielder as "a defender's dream" after the match. And Everton could find themselves some early season momentum here against a West Brom side beaten 3-0 at home by Leicester in their opener. Prediction: Everton 2 West Brom 0. Getty

Leeds United v Fulham (6pm): Two sides freshly promoted from the Championship who both suffered defeats on the opening weekend - but only one came out of their match with heads held high. Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds gave champions Liverpool the fright of their lives at Anfield, fighting back three times before finally going down 4-3. No such comfort in defeat for Fulham as they were blown away 3-0 by Arsenal. Prediction: Leeds 3 Fulham 0. Reuters

Manchester United v Crystal Palace (8.30pm): It turned out to be a turbulent pre-season for a couple of United players. Captain Harry Maguire was found guilty in court of various offences after an incident on holiday in Greece, while young attacker Mason Greenwood was sent home from England duty for breaking Covid-19 safety protocols. United begin their campaign a week later than most against a Palace side who kicked off with a 1-0 win against Southampton. Prediction: United 3 Palace 0. AFP

Arsenal v West Ham (11pm): Contrasting opening games for these two London clubs. Fresh from winning the FA Cup at the end of last season, Arsenal dispatched another English capital club in Fulham, 3-0 at Craven Cottage. West Ham had a miserable start to their campaign as they lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle. Manager David Moyes "struggled to pick any positives" from the game and admitted he needs to boost his squad with fresh faces. Prediction: Arsenal 3 West Ham 1. AFP

SUNDAY - Southampton v Tottenham (3pm): One game down and the cracks are already appearing at Jose Mourinho's Tottenham. The Portuguese has complained about his team's hectic schedule, hauled off midfielder Dele Alli at half time in their defeat to Everton and called players "lazy" and "unfit" after the match. The players' reaction at Southampton, who also lost their first game, to the public criticism by their manager will be fascinating. Prediction: Southampton 2 Spurs 2. EPA

Newcastle v Brighton (5pm): While the repercussions of the failed Saudi-backed takeover bid of Newcastle continue off the pitch, the team appear to be heading in the right direction on it. The strike partnership between Andy Carroll and new boy Callum Wilson, in particular, in their win at West Ham will have given the Magpies a huge boost. Brighton emerged from their defeat to mega-spending Chelsea with pride and showed they can be a thorn in the side for even the league's top guns. Prediction: Newcastle 2 Brighton 1. PA

Chelsea v Liverpool (7.30pm): The game of weekend sees Chelsea, this summer's big spenders, take on champions Liverpool. Both started the season with wins - Liverpool over Leeds, Chelsea at Brighton - but will know a far bigger challenge awaits them here. Timo Werner, a £45m buy from RB Leipzig, gave fans a glimpse of his pace and attacking threat against the Seagulls. He will be hoping for a repeat of Liverpool's defensive blunders against Leeds, at Stamford Bridge. Prediction: Chelsea 1 Liverpool 2. EPA

Leicester v Burnley (10pm): Leicester didn't show any sign of lingering disappointment after missing out on a top-four spot last season in their opening win at West Brom. A debut goal from £21m full-back Timothy Castagne was a bonus, while two penalties from Jamie Vardy a sign that the Golden Boot winner is still hungry for goals. Burnley go into their first game still hoping to bring in new players and keep a hold of West Ham target James Tarkowski. Prediction: Leicester 2 Burnley 0. AFP

MONDAY - Aston Villa v Sheffield United (9pm): Villa have just been given a double boost by midfielder and captain Jack Grealish signing a new long-term contract and Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez joining the club for £17m. In their season opener. They take on a Sheffield United side that fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Wolves and are in desperate need of a lift - and some fresh faces of their own. Week two of the new Premier League season sees every team in action, and some big-hitters will be colliding.

After the start of their campaign was delayed due to their exploits in last season's Europa League, Manchester United kick off their season against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Also playing on Saturday are Carlo Ancelotti's Everton up against West Bromwich Albion, promoted clubs Leeds United and Fulham meet at Elland Road and a London derby takes place at the Emirates with Arsenal hosting West Ham.

Sunday's fixtures kick off with Southampton against Tottenham, followed by Newcastle United facing off with Brighton. The match of the weekend sees Chelsea clash with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, while Leicester face Burnley in the day's final match.

Aston Villa take on Sheffield United in Monday's opening game and is followed by Wolves' battle with Manchester City, who also saw the start of their season delayed after reaching the later stages of European competition in the Champions League.
