Japan's Kitajima wins 100m breaststroke gold



BEIJING // The Japanese swimmer Kosuke Kitajima won the Olympic gold medal in the men's swimming 100m breaststroke today, breaking the world record. Norway's Alexander Dale Oen won the silver and Hugues Duboscq of France the bronze. Kitajima trailed at the halfway mark but regained his composure to take his country's second gold of the Games. His time beat the previous record of 59.13 set by his American rival Brendan Hansen, who was fourth.
