WWE Super ShowDown: Why Seth Rollins will stay Universal champion in Saudi Arabia and survive Brock Lesnar's MITB cash in

It all looks to be stacked against Seth Rollins to leave Saudi Arabia still holding the WWE Universal Championship. He faces Baron Corbin for the title at WWE Super ShowDown but has the cloud hanging over him as well of Brock Lesnar promising to cash in his Money in the Bank contract on him at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. Lesnar beat down Rollins on Raw on Monday and refused to cash in his contract, despite having the man who took the title from him at WrestleMania 35 in April at his mercy. He instead told his advocate Paul Heyman “Friday” as he walked around the ring. The clear message is that Lesnar can take the title back whenever he wants and he will do it in Jeddah. But if WWE were going to do the title switch they would have done it Monday, which makes this writer believe the plan is to actually solidify Rollins’s title reign by having him overcome both Corbin and Lesnar to head back to the United States on Saturday morning still champion. Rollins is having his first run as a babyface WWE world champion and cutting this short to give it back to Lesnar achieves nothing. We have just come off almost two years, a brief run with Roman Reigns between August to October 2018 apart, of Lesnar being Universal champion and him with the belt is not what Raw needs. WWE needs variety and having Rollins as champion, or giving him the chance to show what he can do as the face of the brand, is where they must go. Lesnar has been fun with the briefcase and it is a shame, in a way, it is being rushed. It does feel as if WWE is doing something different with Lesnar and him holding the title does not need to be part of it. This writer’s prediction is Rollins beats Corbin, then Lesnar attacks, but the champion is able to hit him with a low blow before the bell rings, and then curb stomps him a number of time to win. It keeps Rollins as champion, leaves Lesnar frustrated and moves the narrative on. Rollins should not lose the title in Saudi Arabia and having him become only one of a few champions, after CM Punk, John Cena, Jinder Mahal and Reigns to successfully survive a cash in, would add more credence to his reign. Lesnar will be champion again soon, but SmackDown looks more likely and taking Kofi Kingston’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Kingston told The National he wants that match and it could be a great potential main event at SummerSlam in Toronto in August.
