Novak Djokovic's unconvincing run since winning the Australian Open in January continued on Friday as he crashed out of the Monte Carlo Masters in the quarter-finals. The world No 1 has not won a title, or even made it to the semi-finals of an event, since his success in Melbourne and that continued as he lost 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to Daniil Medvedev in the Masters 1000 event. The Serbian has twice won the Monte Carlo tournament, most recently in 2015, but there never appeared to be a chance of it being a hat-trick here as Medvedev controlled much of the match. Medvedev, the world No 14, will play another Serbian in the semi-final as he goes up against Dusan Lajovic. Lajovic got the better of Italian qualifier Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 7-5 in Friday's first quarter-final.
