Van Bommel must change

MUNICH // The Bayern Munich captain Mark van Bommel has to improve his on-field behaviour - or risk losing the captain's armband he has only just inherited. The Dutch midfielder was sent off early in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund for two yellow cards, the first for a dangerous foul on Sebastian Kehl before the linesman spotted an act of violent conduct on Tamas Hajnal. It was his third red card in his last 10 games for the club.

Van Bommel claims he is being victimised but the Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "The first yellow card is acceptable, but you should never get a second card like that and Mark has got to learn. I think he knows himself that he has left the rest of the team in the lurch." * PA Sport
