The 7Emirates Run this year will support Al Jalila Foundation to help disabled children.

The 12-day run will begin in Abu Dhabi on November 21 and continue until December 2, National Day, in Dubai. It hoped that Dh777,000 will be raised to support children in the UAE whose family cannot afford treatment.

“Such events help generate the support we depend on to fund our medical education, research and treatment programmes,” said Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama, the foundation’s chief executive. “More importantly, they help cultivate a culture where health is the utmost priority, which in turn, supports our vision to position the UAE at the forefront of medical innovation.”

The run will be led by Wendelin Lauxen, Guinness World Record holder for the fastest time to complete a marathon on each of the seven continents.

The 575km-run has four categories: the entire race, a seven-member team relay, full or partial runs on specific days, and a special UAE National Day marathon limited to 43 runners.

The marathon will commemorate the UAE’s 43 years with runners who will join the 7Emirates Run team on the last leg from Sharjah to Dubai.

“Running across the seven emirates is an incredible feat,” Mr Lauxen said. “We run for the pure joy of running, to promote a healthy lifestyle and to raise awareness for children in need.

“We are excited to welcome runners for the last leg – Sharjah to Dubai, to celebrate the 43rd UAE National Day.

“The course has been designed to give runners a chance to explore the beauty of the country on foot through its varied landscape.”
