A 100-kilometre cycle tour of Abu Dhabi landmarks was taking place on Wednesday.
The Abu Dhabi Cycle Tour is open to all and will go past the city's landmarks and key attractions.
It starts at 2:30pm from Wahat Al Karama – situated opposite the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – and is free. Registration opens at 2pm.
The race is being held in compliance with the strict rules put in place to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Participants must show a negative Covid-19 test on the Al Hosn smartphone app and should have had both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, has been encouraging more people to take up cycling over the past few years and is well on its way to becoming a bike-friendly city.
Yas Island, Salam Street, the Corniche and Al Hudayriat Island are a few locations where cyclists enjoy dedicated lanes.
Al Wathba, on the outskirts of the city, also has a dedicated track.
