Dubai authorities said today they would keep a close watch on energy and soft drinks to ensure they met UAE specifications.
The municipality said it conducted "periodic checks" on the percentage of caffeine, artificial colours, preservatives, sweeteners, natural and industrial remnants and alcohol in energy drinks.
"The section also undertakes periodic checks to energy drinks, like counting total bacteria, coliform bacteria, faecal, yeasts and fungi," said Maha Al Hajri, head of the municipality's Food and Environment Laboratory.
