Blood donation drive at Sharjah's Al Qassimi Hospital

SHARJAH // A blood donation drive is being held today at Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah.

"Similar campaigns are held at the hospital almost on a monthly basis because the demand for blood is high and essential as this is a matter of life," said Dr Ruqaya Al Shehhi, the head of learning and development at the hospital.

An average of 50 to 100 donors are needed during each donation drive to meet demands.

Dr Al Shehhi urged residents to participate. "This is one of the most important things everyone should do as it saves lives."

Donating blood is quick and simple, with doctors first carrying out a quick medical check up to ensure the donor is fit and healthy, said Dr Al Shehhi.
