The Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection has banned the use of styrofoam cups for hot and sour drinks after a study by the Ministry of Economy showed using them could have harmful effects on health.
Mixing juices with energy drinks has also been banned by the committee, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National. It called on municipalities and the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority to take the required measures to enforce the bans.
The committee has also directed tobacco importers to provide the appropriate labelling on tobacco products after the ministry received complaints about unlabelled expired tobacco products.
