DUBAI // A policeman denies raping a woman in the back of a car after meeting her outside a nightclub.
NA, 25, who holds a Comoros Islands passport, is accused of attacking her after offering her a lift home at 3.15am on March 13.
The woman told prosecutors she went to the club with her friends after work.
"We had alcohol and danced then we left," she said.
"The defendant and a friend who was driving the car offered to give me a lift to my accommodation in Al Muraqqabat area."
The woman said she got into the back of the car and that the policeman offered her money to have sex with him but she refused. He then started touching her.
She claimed he beat her, ripped off her clothes and raped her.
He then got out of the car, which had stopped outside a house.
"I didn't know where they were taking me but on the way I noticed a sign saying Oud Al Matina," said the woman.
"He offered his friends to have sex with me too but they refused, I overheard that."
She said a man came out of the house and got into the car to calm her down before she was driven home. Once there she called the police.
FA, a police officer, arrested the defendant.
"He told me he agreed with her through her friend to have sex in return for Dh1,500," said the officer, adding that the defendant had said he gave money to the woman before having sex.
The officer said the accused told him that when he was finished, he asked her to get out of his car but she refused because she was very drunk, so he dragged her out and then drove away.
A forensics report confirmed she had had sex and DNA traces from her matched the defendant.
He denied rape at Dubai Criminal Court. The next hearing will be on September 22.
