DUBAI // A security guard accused of offering a woman Dh1,000 to have sex with him told a court he did not have that much money.
Prosecutors told the Criminal Court that AA, a 26-year-old Egyptian, approached the Brazilian woman on September 20 this year.
A police officer who was patrolling in the Jumeirah area said that about 11.30pm on that night he received a report that a sexual assault had occurred behind Emirates Academy.
"When I arrived the woman told me that a security guard at the Jumeirah Village had hugged her, touched her shoulders and asked her to have sex with him in return for Dh1,000," said the policeman.
But the security guard said he did not have this much money to offer. "How could I offer her Dh1,000 when my monthly salary is just Dh800," he asked the court.
Another security guard at the Jumeirah Village testified that the woman came running towards him in a state of shock and terror. The second security guard said the woman told him what happened and that when the first security guard was confronted by the woman he started apologising to her.
Prosecutors said the first security guard confessed during their interrogations, but he denied a charge of sexual assault when he appeared in court.
The next hearing was scheduled for December 31.
