Dubai Police to arrest man who disrespected religions in online video

DUBAI // Police are seeking to arrest a man who made sarcastic remarks about non-Muslim holidays and disrespected other religions on the internet.

A video has been circulating online in which an Emirati, A S, makes the comments.

Brig Gen Khamid Al Mazeina, chief of Dubai Police, said legal procedures had begun against A S as his comments transgressed the UAE’s new discrimination laws.

Law 2 of 2015 outlaws antireligious speech and also prohibits insults to God, religions, prophets, holy books and places of worship as well as discriminating on the basis of religion, creed, sect or ethnicity.

Mr Al Mazeina urged people to respect all religions and religious rituals.
