All spring camps in Dubai have been closed from March 15 to restrict the spread of the novel coronavirus, officials have said. Camps licensed by Dubai Economic Department will remain closed until the end of March. Spring camps licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Dubai's private schools regulator. They will remain closed until April 5. Last week, The National reported that non-KHDA spring camps in Dubai were open, though nurseries, schools and universities were closed to contain the coronavirus. Operators of such camps said they would remain open until the beginning of April as they stepped up hygiene practices and kept group sizes to a minimum. The move was seen as a way to help working parents as schools and nurseries remain closed. Last Tuesday, more than 20 activity centres in Dubai also announced they had suspended their activities for children under the age of 18. Theme parks, cinemas and gyms across Dubai will also be closed for the rest of the month. Public Parks in the city will also remain closed until further notice, Dubai Municipality confirmed. Dubai Parks and Resorts, which runs Motiongate Dubai, Legoland Dubai, Legoland Waterpark Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai, earlier said its theme parks would remain closed until at least the end of March or when the situation changed. It said the closure was in response to directives from Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, which asked for all events in the emirate to be suspended from March 15.
