Princess Haya inaugurates Dubai private school

DUBAI // Princess Haya bint Al Hussein inaugurated a private school on Wednesday at its location in Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2.

The Swiss International Scientific School is the first private school in the emirate to offer multi-lingual education in English, Arabic, French, German and Italian, reported Wam, the state news agency.

Princess Haya, wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, was joined by the Swiss ambassador to the UAE and other officials as well as school staff.

She toured the school facilities and learnt about the specialised International Baccalaureate curriculum, and a scientific learning programme that is in development.

The school has 270 pupils of 41 nationalities and 57 teaching staff, with classes offered in pre-kindergarten to grade six. Higher grades are expected to be offered in the future.

Getting there

The flights

Emirates and Etihad fly to Johannesburg or Cape Town daily. Flights cost from about Dh3,325, with a flying time of 8hours and 15 minutes. From there, fly South African Airlines or Air Namibia to Namibia’s Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport, for about Dh850. Flying time is 2 hours.
