Learning hours will be reduced at private schools in Sharjah during Ramadan.
The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) stated the school day will last between three and five hours throughout the holy month.
Schools have been directed to assign less homework and conduct fewer tests during this period.
“The school day does not start before 9am,” SPEA said in a circular sent out to all of the emirate’s private schools.
“It must not be less than three hours and not to exceed five hours, taking into account the educational stages and parents’ needs.”

Spring break for Sharjah pupils started on Friday, March 26.
Classes will resume on Sunday, April 18.
Ramadan is expected to begin on April 12, but the date depends on the sighting of the Moon, as the Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycle.
Private schools in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have reduced school hours to five hours a day during the month of Ramadan.
Schools in the capital cannot start the day before 9:30am, and lessons must end by 3:30pm. They are expected to cover the full content of the core subjects during those hours.
