Two new centres for people with special needs are going to be built in Ghayathi and Madinat Zayed in the Western Region this year.
The announcement was made by Mariam Saif Al Qubaissi, director of special needs sector at Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs on Wednesday.
Each of the centres will have a capacity of 100 people.
She said that there is a need for an integrated strategy to care for people with disabilities across the UAE and to ensure integrated services in special needs centres, including diagnosis and early intervention, which are currently available only in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain rehabilitation centres.
