As UAE residents prepare to celebrate Christmas and ring in 2022, they can expect cloudy and cooler weather.
The forecast shows temperatures ranging from 17°C to 27°C until January 5.
Some sun on December 23 and 24 is expected to give way to cloudy skies in the days that follow, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.
And from the start of January, residents can even expect possible showers in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, according to Weather.com.
“Sharjah has a 60 per cent chance of rain in the morning and 40 per cent in the evening, while it’s the other way round for Dubai (40 per cent chance in the morning and 60 per cent in the evening),” it said.
For Abu Dhabi, it said: “It will be partly cloudy skies early followed by increasing clouds with showers developing later at night. Chance of rain 40 per cent.”
Dubai and Sharjah are expected to have rain on January 3 and 4, while Abu Dhabi has a 30 per cent chance of wet weather in the evening of Monday, January 3.

Thursday, December 23
It will be partly cloudy with low clouds over some areas. The temperature will drop slightly and it will be humid by night-time and on Friday morning, with the probability of fog in some areas.
Friday
It will be partly cloudy. Humidity is expected to rise during the night and on Saturday morning, with chances of fog.
Saturday
It will remain cloudy, with a chance of mist forming in some areas.
Sunday
The weather will remain partly cloudy and the mist is expected to persist in some areas.

What is the FNC?
The Federal National Council is one of five federal authorities established by the UAE constitution. It held its first session on December 2, 1972, a year to the day after Federation.
It has 40 members, eight of whom are women. The members represent the UAE population through each of the emirates. Abu Dhabi and Dubai have eight members each, Sharjah and Ras al Khaimah six, and Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain have four.
They bring Emirati issues to the council for debate and put those concerns to ministers summoned for questioning.
The FNC’s main functions include passing, amending or rejecting federal draft laws, discussing international treaties and agreements, and offering recommendations on general subjects raised during sessions.
Federal draft laws must first pass through the FNC for recommendations when members can amend the laws to suit the needs of citizens. The draft laws are then forwarded to the Cabinet for consideration and approval.
Since 2006, half of the members have been elected by UAE citizens to serve four-year terms and the other half are appointed by the Ruler’s Courts of the seven emirates.
In the 2015 elections, 78 of the 252 candidates were women. Women also represented 48 per cent of all voters and 67 per cent of the voters were under the age of 40.
