ABU DHABI // A female prisoner attacked a guard then accused her of giving sexual favours to gain her rank, the Court of Appeals heard on Tuesday.
F S, an Emirati, is accused of pushing prison captain E, also an Emirati, as inmates lined up to return to their cells.
Policewoman S told the court that she was standing behind the captain and the defendant blocked her way while chatting to other inmates.
“So E told F S, ‘Excuse me, this is a queue and this is unacceptable’, then F S yelled at her,” she said.
She said the prisoner swore at the captain, grabbed her uniform and pushed her. The officer did not push back, but “only tried to calm the situation and pass through the queue”.
I M, a police sergeant, said the prisoner accused the captain of gaining her rank by providing sexual favours.
Defence summoned S H, an Emirati former prisoner, who said: “Captain E was not, as it has been described, saying ‘excuse me’ and all that. She was yelling ‘yalla, yalla’.”
She said: “I did not see any pushing and F S was in front of me. There was some natural pushing due to the nature of the place.”
The case was adjourned until May 19.
