Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has attended the graduation of entrepreneurs from the Higher Colleges of Technology Startup Development Programme.
The course helps students become successful creatives.
At the ceremony on Saturday, Sheikh Mohammed reviewed a number of start-ups from sectors such as technology, health, cybersecurity, agritech, automation, 3D printing and education.
“Equipping students with skills and tools for entrepreneurship [is an] important [part] of the state directives as they (students) consider the real wealth and investment for a better future,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
“Investment in youth is the essence of our renaissance ... a foundation of our future and an enabler to cope with developments around us.
“The UAE is making relentless efforts to encourage and enhance entrepreneurship at all levels, especially in higher education institutions, which prepare students to enter the job market.”
The HCT Startup Development Programme was launched in 2019. It has helped to prepare 2,316 students for the world of entrepreneurship and establish 108 start-ups, where students from the programme occupy 50 per cent of the top management positions.
E-Fate, a start-up promoting sustainability and energy efficiency through the collection of electronic waste, was started by the students.
The company aims to position the UAE as a leading player in recycling.
