Abu Dhabi’s Ramadan majlis to honour UAE martyrs

ABU DHABI // A majlis dedicated to the families of the country’s martyrs will be held during Ramadan.

The announcement was made by the Martyrs’ Families Affairs Office at the Crown Prince Court – Abu Dhabi, reported Wam, the state news agency.

The move is aimed at maintaining communication with the families of the martyrs and highlighting their heroism, and is also in line with the Year of Giving, said officials.

“The UAE leadership’s directives calling for dedicating all initiatives of the Year of Giving to the martyrs’ families reflects their commitment to standing united with the families of the brave Emiratis who sacrificed their lives for the country, and including them in all initiatives that reflect the nation’s pride and gratitude for their sons,” said Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun, director of the office.

Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, will be hosted at the first Ramadan majlis. Topics will include social, national and educational issues such as the UAE’s role in the region and Emirati youth’s responsibilities in maintaining the country’s growth.

Mr Al Gergawi praised the office’s efforts to respond to the needs of the martyrs’ families.

“These families instilled patriotic values to their sons and daughters, and we seek to stay close to them and to highlight the honourable sacrifice that their children gave to the nation.”
