Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed meets Indian Minister of External Affairs

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, met with the Indian Minister of External Affairs on Wednesday. Sheikh Mohammed received Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi. The pair discussed the relationship between the two countries and ways to further co-operation and partnerships, particularly in the areas of politics, investment and economics. Sheikh Mohammed recognised the “remarkable growth” in relations between the two countries, according to Wam, the UAE's news agency. They also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest in the region and beyond, it said. In addition, they spoke about the need to work together to contain and control the spread of Covid-19 The two nations have sought to mitigate the economic and social impact of the pandemic, first by by organising repatriation flights at the height of the outbreak to allow tens of thousands of Indian citizens in the Emirates who had suffered job losses or salary cuts to return home. India and the UAE have also established an air-corridor agreement, which allows for travel between the two countries to continue, even after India extended a ban on international flights until the end of the year. The meeting was also attended by Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, and a delegation accompanying the Indian minister.
