Dubai has increased its daily testing capacity by 1650 after three more centres opened there.
The three sites, at Al Rashidiya Majlis, Al Hamriya Port Majlis and Jumeirah 1 Port Majlis, will offer polymerase chain reaction nasal swab tests (PCR) for Dh150 after Dubai Health Authority (DHA) revised its pricing structure.
Dubai now has five sites dedicated to testing for the coronavirus. The others are at Al Shabab Al Ahli and Al Nasr clubs.
“The new centres were prepared in record time,” said Dr Farida Al Khaja, chief executive of DHA’s clinical support services and nursing sector.
“They will operate seven days a week from 11am to 6pm, with a capacity of 550 examinations per day at each centre.
“The DHA is working continuously to combat the global pandemic and provide the highest levels of health security for the community.
“This is done through preventive steps, including the expansion of laboratory Covid-19 testing.”
The DHA increased capacity with the help of public and private hospitals.
The emirate can now test more than 78,000 people daily.
The UAE reported 995 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday.
Authorities said 1,076 patients were cleared of the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 82,538.
The infections were detected after 98,412 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours.
More than 9.5 million tests have been carried out since the outbreak began as part of a mass screening strategy.

Who was Alfred Nobel?

What is an ETF?
An exchange traded fund is a type of investment fund that can be traded quickly and easily, just like stocks and shares. They come with no upfront costs aside from your brokerage's dealing charges and annual fees, which are far lower than on traditional mutual investment funds. Charges are as low as 0.03 per cent on one of the very cheapest (and most popular), Vanguard S&P 500 ETF, with the maximum around 0.75 per cent.
There is no fund manager deciding which stocks and other assets to invest in, instead they passively track their chosen index, country, region or commodity, regardless of whether it goes up or down.
The first ETF was launched as recently as 1993, but the sector boasted $5.78 billion in assets under management at the end of September as inflows hit record highs, according to the latest figures from ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm.
There are thousands to choose from, with the five largest providers BlackRock’s iShares, Vanguard, State Street Global Advisers, Deutsche Bank X-trackers and Invesco PowerShares.
While the best-known track major indices such as MSCI World, the S&P 500 and FTSE 100, you can also invest in specific countries or regions, large, medium or small companies, government bonds, gold, crude oil, cocoa, water, carbon, cattle, corn futures, currency shifts or even a stock market crash.

Although social media can be harmful to our mental health, paradoxically, one of the antidotes comes with the many social-media accounts devoted to normalising mental-health struggles. With Hope UAE is one of them.
The group, which has about 3,600 followers, was started three years ago by five Emirati women to address the stigma surrounding the subject. Via Instagram, the group recently began featuring personal accounts by Emiratis. The posts are written under the hashtag #mymindmatters, along with a black-and-white photo of the subject holding the group’s signature red balloon.
“Depression is ugly,” says one of the users, Amani. “It paints everything around me and everything in me.”
Saaed, meanwhile, faces the daunting task of caring for four family members with psychological disorders. “I’ve had no support and no resources here to help me,” he says. “It has been, and still is, a one-man battle against the demons of fractured minds.”
In addition to With Hope UAE’s frank social-media presence, the group holds talks and workshops in Dubai. “Change takes time,” Reem Al Ali, vice chairman and a founding member of With Hope UAE, told The National earlier this year. “It won’t happen overnight, and it will take persistent and passionate people to bring about this change.”
