The UAE announced 390 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, with 389 recoveries and one death. The latest numbers released by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (Ncema) mean the country has recorded 68,701 cases in total with 55,492 recoveries and 379 deaths. Ncema also tweeted on Friday the Ministry of Health had announced 79,680 more tests. The latest figures come just 24 hours after the UAE announced its highest spike in numbers for more than six weeks, after 491 new infections were announced on Thursday. Earlier in the week, Government spokesperson Dr Omar Al Hammad said the number of cases had risen by 10 per cent in August, adding that people must continue to wear masks and abide by social distancing measures. "There have been pictures on social media of gatherings at hotels, without precautionary measures, which contradicts what we are working on," he said during the UAE's regular televised briefing. "All members of society must be responsible and comply with these measures."
